How To Get Military Discount At Lowes

Qualified active duty service members, veterans and their immediate family members can save 10% every day on most purchases from the nationwide retailer.

Lowe's 10% Military Discount Eligibility

Lowe's 10% military discount is available to active-duty, reserve and National Guard service members in the  United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. Members of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS) also qualify for the discount.

The 10% discount also applies to veterans and their families.

Veterans include all individuals retired or discharged (honorable, under honorable condition, general). You are not eligible for the discount if you were dishonorably discharged from the military.

To receive the discount, you need to enroll in the MyLowe's Program. Lowe's uses a trusted third-party service to verify eligibility status, which may require you to submit additional documentation such as proof of military service. You'll only need to do this once.

How to prove military service:

  • Military ID card
  • Veteran ID card
  • VA health care card
  • DD Form 214
  • Driver's license with veteran's designation
  • Other ways to verify military service

How to Sign Up for the MyLowe's Program

To enroll, visit Lowes.com/military. Select "Verify with ID.me," which is a third-party eligibility verification service contracted to the Department of Defense.

Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete military verification.

Once you're verified, you'll create a personal account on Lowes.com or log in to your existing personal account and follow the on-screen instructions.

You can link your MyLowe's account with your phone number or carry a membership card and make discount purchases with either one. In either case, cashiers may ask to see your military ID.

You can also share your discount with your spouse through your MyLowe's account. Spouses must show a dependent ID to complete in-store purchases. If the service member and spouse have different last names, the checkout assistant may ask for a second form of identification.

Is Lowe's Military Discount Available Online?

Yes.  To use the discount online, log in to your MyLowe's account. Lowe's will automatically apply your discount to eligible items during checkout.

If you prefer, you can check your local store's inventory and complete your order online, then visit the store and pick up your purchases. That way, you don't waste a trip only to find out your item isn't in stock.

Can you still get the discount without a MyLowe's account? You can still get a military discount in stores if you do not have a MyLowe's account, according to Lowe's military discount policy. But, you must have a MyLowe's account to access the Lowe's discount online.

Personally, I like the MyLowe's card because it tracks all my purchases, and makes it easy to return an item (the MyLowe's account stores your receipts, so you don't need to keep the paper copy to make returns). Your account can also keep track of details like paint color codes to make touch-ups easier.

Lowe's offers sales that can vary by location. Before you shop, it's a good idea to check local advertisements, fliers, promo codes, coupons and online store promotions for up-to-date information.

In many cases, Lowe's website also features deals that aren't available at their physical stores, so it pays to take a close look online for separate savings.

Lowe's Military Discount Exclusions

Lowe's military discount has no annual limit, subject to certain program exclusions. The 10% discount applies only to eligible purchases.  It can't be used with any other offer, coupon, promotion, discount or markdown, including but not limited to:

  • Lowe's Price Promise
  • Price programs such as Lowe's volume or special discount programs (including Contractor Packs™, Buy in Bulk, Bulk Savings, Special Value and New Lower Price)
  • Lowe's credit discount offers, such as Lowe's Consumer Credit Card 5% Off Everyday discount.
  • Gift cards
  • Previous purchases
  • Services (including but not limited to product installations sold separately or as part of a packaged bundle comprising both products and services)
  • Assembly
  • Shipping and extended protection plans
  • Taxes or fees

Your discount isn't redeemable for cash, is nontransferable and can't be combined with price adjustments made at a manager's discretion, according to Lowe's military discount program policy.

Also, according to the policy, Lowe's military discount is for personal use only, and not for commercial services. Lowe's reserves the right to change or cancel the program at any time or cancel a member's enrollment if there is evidence of misuse.  In other words – please use the program as it is intended – as a thank you for your service. Don't use it to enhance your business or hook up your second cousin's best friend with a sweet discount.

Additional exclusions may apply. If you have questions, ask store personnel for clarifications on what is covered.

What if You Don't Receive a Discount?

Now that we've got the legal mumbo-jumbo out of the way, I'd like to say that I've been using the 10% military discount at Lowe's for years now and I've rarely had any issues.

However, If you don't receive a discount, start by verifying that the discount applies to your particular purchases.

You might not qualify for the discount if there are exclusions noted above, or you don't have the proper form of required ID.  Clerks can get in trouble or lose their jobs if they accept a non-valid form of ID, so please don't put them in an awkward position.

If you have questions or think you were improperly denied the discount, you can ask to see a copy of the military discount policy.

Author's note: Even if you're denied a discount, we should appreciate that Lowes is making an effort to support our community through their ongoing policy of hiring and providing scholarships for veterans, creating safe and affordable veteran's housing and preferred veterans parking at store locations.  The chain has also been ranked as one of the top five military-friendly brands for 2022 by Military Friendly.
